The bands' history, in a nutshell, told by Colin who started it all...

As with most bands it started with a fancy putting a band together?

Contacting possible members and running ads got the ball rolling and a few possibilities, however just as the Princess has to kiss a lot of frogs to find her Prince quite a few came and went before we nearly had a full team.

A recruitment drive by Roy the Drum completed the line up of the most talented and nicest musicians I have ever been in a band with.

Unfortunately one of our vocalists had to leave due to ill health leaving Susanne as lead vocalist, a job at which she excels covering a wide range of genre.

As to our name, I will leave that to Susanne to explain as she was instrumental (sorry) in suggesting the main idea.

Thanks for your interest, do come along to see us.

and his bio...

Cols' musical career started when aged 16 he was given an acoustic guitar and a guitarist neighbour (who would go on to feature as a lead guitarist in several well known bands) provided some chords.

The parents gave plenty of encouragement plus an electric guitar and amp when sufficient progress had been made.

As soon as he could he set about forming a band, the first of many, being successful over many years playing a mixture of genre, from Country to old time classic rock to middle of the road favourites entertaining in clubs, hotels and private functions.

Performing as lead vocalist/rhythm guitar for many years and later as backing vocalist/rhythm guitar with female lead vocals.

The guitar used from the early 70s' to present is a 73 Telecaster now alongside a newly acquired PRS Se Pauls. The amp is a Fender GTX 100 and the mic a Sure SM58.

Before retiring employment was as a carpenter working on a variety of projects from housing to million pound developments.

Susie is a very busy girl at the moment and writing a bio is not at the top of her priorities.

What we can tell you is that she is from Erfurt in Germany, is an extremely nice person and loves singing!

Nick first started learning the guitar after watching AC/DC at De Montfort Hall in Leicester at 12 years old. His parents brought him a second hand Fender Telecaster and he was hooked. Nick has always been a Classic Rock fan, with his main influences on guitar being Jimmy Page, Angus Young, Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen but he's also a lover of the blues and cites Stevie Ray Vaughan as a major influence on his playing.

His first public performance was at the University of Sheffield and he has been in several bands since then around the Leicester and Loughborough area. Nick owns far too many guitars and when asked how many does he actually need  always responds with the answer, "X plus 1, where X is the current number of guitars owned"

Whilst not playing guitar he works full time in IT as a Professional Services Manager..

Gavin hasn't let us have his bio yet. We don't know whether this is because he is always on holiday or is just too lazy.

What we can tell you is that he has played bass guitar in lots of bands and is prone to making  lots of humorous remarks.

Roy began playing in a Rock and Roll/Country band from Northampton which eventually morphed into a band called White Lightnin' during the Rock and Roll revival. They supported people like The Jets, also from Northampton, and a number of other well known bands at the time.

After the R&R scene faded away I played in several other bands playing locally in pubs and clubs and it was during this time I had the pleasure of playing a hastily arranged gig  where Wayne Jackson, the trumpet player from the Legendary Memphis Horns stood in with the band.

In the nineteen eighties/nineties I was in a band called Mixed Blessings who played clubs and functions up and down the country  and often did cabaret nights featuring various comedians and artists who were well known in those days such as Colin Crompton and Renee and Ronata.

Since then there have been various other bands before joining 9 Times Lucky!
